PRIVACY POLICY

The privacy of our own personal information online is very important to us. We also care about your privacy and the protection of the information that you give us. We love that governments regulate this stuff so that we can continue our digital lives. Regulations outline the things that we need to inform you about in this privacy policy notice.

YOUR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

We don’t really collect and keep any information that you don’t provide. The reason we need your personal information is for contacting you. You can voluntarily provide your information when you fill out a contact form, or when you sign up to receive an email newsletter. And, as you will read below, you can remove yourself from our records at any time, or ask us to.

You are always free to visit our sites at anytime anonymously.

NON-PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

Non-personal identification information is collected from Users to help us make our sites better. We can view stats like how many visitors we’ve had, which pages were viewed, which links were clicked and what outside website led someone to our site by using analytics software like Google Analytics or Squarespace Analytics.

WEB BROWSER COOKIES

Our sites may use “cookies” to enhance your User experience. The information collected can include the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet, your IP address, your browser, software operating system, web log data (including the date and time you access this site), pages you visit, what you do during your visit, and what searches you performed.

You can choose to set your web browser to refuse cookies, or alert you when cookies are being sent.

TRACKING

We (via Mailchimp) use open tracking in our emails. When we send emails newsletters, Mailchimp tracks behaviors such as how many people opened the emails and how many links were clicked.  This all helps us measure success and relevance for our efforts.

HOW WE USE COLLECTED INFORMATION

We collect your information that you voluntarily provide. When you put in your information through a contact form and/or a email newsletter sign up, you are voluntarily giving us your information. We use information given to provide what you requested. We will email you to answer messages submitted through our contact form, and we will send periodic email newsletters to those who sign up.

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We don’t share your information.  However, we do use third-party providers to help my website function.  Those providers sometimes are our means for collecting information, and so they technically are “sharing” it with us.  Currently, those providers are:

Squarespace:  This is used for our website design, hosting, and for tracking pageviews, referrals and clicks. You can view their privacy policy here.

Mailchimp:  This is used to manage my email list. You can view their privacy policy here.

Just so you know, when you post comments to our sites, your posts may be viewed by all users and may be publicly distributed outside the site in perpetuity (a great legal word that we love using).  In other words, other people could copy/paste/screenshot what you said, quote you, make a meme…it will be part of cyberspace for all eternity.  We really love your comments!

ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTERS

We said this before, but if you skipped to this heading for info about newsletters specifically, here goes:  We regularly send out an email newsletter. It’s our hope that it will be useful to you. Our purpose is to be of value for the community. We hope you will sign up. We also hope you will forward it to friends. If they want on the list, they will have to sign up and agree to have us send it to them in the future. Everyone has to give permission to send them stuff. Here’s the great part…our email software provider, Mailchimp, makes it super easy for you to change or delete your information at any time. You can unsubscribe to our emails. The link will be in every email.

THIRD PARTY WEBSITES

We like to link to other websites when they will be useful to you in getting more detailed information on a topic we are referring to. You need to know that this is not an endorsement of those businesses or services. It is just leading you to useful information. You need to read their Privacy Policy if that matters to you, because it may be different than mine.

It’s also possible that they might have changed the information on the page we link to.  If you find that happened, we would love for you to let us know so we can update the link.

COMPLIANCE WITH CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT

Here is the legal part:  We never collect or maintain information from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of my website is structured to attract anyone under 13. If you become aware of any data we have collected from anyone under the age of 13, please contact me using my contact form.

HOW WE SECURE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Here is the legal part:  We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information.  While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide, please be aware that despite my efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties. Therefore, we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide personal information.

We reserve the right to use or disclose any information without notice or consent as compelled by applicable law, regulation or legal requirement; to conduct investigations of complaints or possible breaches of law; to protect the integrity of our site and our property and assure adherence to our terms of use; to protect the safety of our visitors or others; and to fulfill your requests.

FOR VISITORS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES

This non-profit, site and associated computers are located in the United States. Our host and the servers it uses may be located outside the United States.

HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA

We retain information such as comments, comment form submissions, and newsletter form submissions, indefinitely. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

WHAT RIGHTS YOU HAVE OVER YOUR DATA

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

FURTHER COMPLIANCE WITH THE GDPR

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Visitor form submissions go through Squarespace to our Google email account. Visitor newsletter submissions go to Mailchimp.

E.U./E.E.A. individuals have the right to access and/or personal information about them, and to limit use and disclosure of their personal information. These individuals also have the right to request their information be amended or erased.

E.U./E.E.A. individuals who believe their personal information has been mismanaged by this site have the right to contact the E.U. data protection authorities (DPAs) for more information or to file a complaint.  If you do have a complaint, I would appreciate you to contact me first to see if we can resolve it.

If you would like to have your private information deleted from the records that we keep, please fill contact us at info@delightandbe.com and we will forget you forever (but that is sad).
