Our Spring 2018 Retreat | Leavenworth, Washington

To try to encapsulate this year’s Delight and Be retreat is going to be a challenge, so bear with me. Being a first-timer, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I knew God was going to be at work there. I just wasn’t prepared for how much He would be at work and how He would do it. All of us girls got there on Thursday evening, warmly greeted by everyone, skipping the handshake and going straight to hugs.

10 Tips To Loving Your Clients Well

Today’s business world is a cycle of marketing for clients, serving clients for monetary recompense, and then marketing for more clients.  Everyone says more is better and we often measure success by how many new clients are flocking to a certain business owner.  In lieu of income, running a business is more about constantly gaining new clients then pouring everything into your current and past clients. But is that really true?

When I stepped into the world of photography a couple of years ago, I was pouring all of my effort into gaining new clients instead of fiercely loving and serving the ones I already had.  I mean, I tried to be gracious and kind and helpful, but I didn’t really understand how to simultaneously pour everything into my current clients and yet grow my business and gain more customers … that is, until this year. . .

To the Ones Who Aren’t Happy with Average

Today I sat in a senior luncheon to celebrate the end of my undergraduate college career and it was awkward. Even though I've had classes upon classes with this same group of social work students over the last several years, it felt uncomfortable to talk post-grad plans and what we're going to do with our lives. You can feel the comparison, nervousness, and fatigue in the room as we discussed job offers, applications out, and licensing exams.

Looking Back at the Fall Delight Retreat

A few months ago, at this very moment, I was plugging in my laptop in a cozy little upstairs nook of a giant house and preparing to speak about the gospel, productivity, how those things relate, and why it matters. I was in the hills of Tennessee, pouring my heart out at the fall Delight Retreat. For those of who you have been following me for a while, you already know about Delight. I've written about it several times in the past, and it's been a huge part of my life for a long time. But for those of who you don't know, Delight & Be is a 501c3 non-profit organization for young Christian women pursuing the creative arts. It's made up of artists of every kind - from designers and chefs to photographers and songwriters. Twice a year, these young ladies gather together for a weekend of fellowship, friendship, worship, and education.
